A strong foundation for success 

Montgomery County is home to the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, which serves over 37,000 students in grades Pre-K through 12. The school system has a strong reputation for academic excellence and has been recognized for its innovative programs and commitment to student achievement.

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System is made up of 43 schools, including 24 elementary schools, eight middle schools, and seven high schools. In addition to traditional school options, the district also hosts K-12 Virtual School, eight High School College and Career Academies, and an Early Technical College.

Private schools and public school alternatives

Clarksville has a variety of private schools that offer families an alternative to the traditional public school system. These private schools typically have smaller class sizes and a more personalized approach to education.  Additionally, several home school associations exist offering support and community for families. 

Post Secondary and trade school options

Clarksville offers a variety of post-secondary and trade school options for students looking to continue their education beyond high school. One of the most well-known institutions in the area is Austin Peay State University, a four-year public university that offers over 100 undergraduate and graduate programs. The university has a strong reputation for its academic programs, particularly in the fields of nursing, education, and business.  

In addition to Austin Peay, Clarksville also has several trade schools and technical colleges, including the North Tennessee School of Cosmetology, which offers training in cosmetology and esthetics, and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology, which offers vocational training in a variety of fields, including welding, automotive technology, and industrial maintenance. For students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, Clarksville is home to the Daymar College School of Nursing, which offers nursing programs at the associate, bachelor's, and master's degree levels.
